Online Store
We are very happy to announce a major change to our website. We have dramatically changed a lot of the content as well as the way you navigate through the site to hopefully make it easier to find the information you are after. It is now possible to select the product you are after then pay through PayPal (which also accepts your credit card if you don't have a PayPal account). The prices of our products all include postage and we deliver Australia wide through Australia Post. Typical delivery takes 3-5 days and all items are tracked with email updates.
Grouped Products
We have only given three product options. They are; 3x1L casks, 2x2L casks or 2x4L casks. This is to take advantage of Australia Post's discounted mailing boxes. We are happy to provide quotes for other groupings and there is always the option of purchasing our products through Farmhouse Direct where you can purchase any quantity you like.
Goolwa Orders
There is now a dedicated page for Goolwa orders with a simpler order form so that local people can continue to receive free delivery of their local olive oil. This is easily accessible from the home page.
Recipe Page
We now have a selection of our favourite olive oil recipes added to our website. Look under 'Product Info' then 'Olive Oil' to find them and feel free to email us with any of your own favourites.
4 Step Guide To Purchasing Olive Oil
Whilst we would obviously prefer everyone to be guzzling our EVOO, a large focus of what we want to achieve is to encourage everyone to start consuming good quality local produce that doesn't cost a fortune. Everyone talks about the health benefits of EVOO, but few realise that these health benefits are ONLY found in REAL EVOO. 90% of imported olive oils (many claiming to be EVOO) failed the Australian standards tests. Here's how to find a REAL EVOO without paying too much for it.
1. Look for the AOA Code of Practice logo (see below).
2. Make sure it is packaged using the “bag-in-box” method to ensure freshness.
3. Look for the year of harvest (must be within 2 years of harvest date – or much earlier if not packaged in “bag-in-box”). Olive oil loses its health benefits with age. Once a glass bottle is opened, the oil will lose its health benefits within 4 months due to the interaction with air, something that doesn’t happen with “bag-in-box” olive oil.
4. Compare prices. Price is a poor reflection of the quality and should be taken into account last. I have seen some pretty average EVOO at a high price and some pretty good EVOO at very low prices.
* Many of the health benefits come from high levels of polyphenols which give the olive oil a peppery/bitter taste that will burn the back of your throat if you drink it. If it lacks this peppery taste then it probably isn’t EVOO.
Lowline Beef
Over the last couple of years we have been running some Shorthorn steers on our property and have been either selling them to the markets or using a Mobile Butcher to cut up for our own use. Last Saturday we purchased our first 5 Lowline cows (see photo below). They are all due to calve in February/March and this will be the start of our beef enterprise. Lowlines are a miniature breed and are much like an Angus. They are quite a rare breed but are growing in popularity for many reasons but not least their taste. So hopefully in the future you will be seeing some Seaview Grove Lowline beef on the menu!
Thank you to everyone that has purchased our products over the last twelve months and supported us in various different ways. We have come a long way over the last three years and we can't wait to get stuck in to 2014. We hope everyone has a great Christmas and New Year!
